Dec 11, 2024 Ruth Scully wins the 2024 Finkelstein Award for outstanding volunteer impact Ruth Scully has been selected as the 2024 Finkelstein Award recipient for her 20 years of volunteering. She has had a remarkable impact on Crohn’s and Colitis Canada as well as the many individuals she has touched. Ruth is the mother of Sarah and Adam Scully - Sarah has colitis and Adam has Crohn’s disease. As a result of their conditions, Ruth became involved with Crohn’s and Colitis Canada in 2004. Over the years, she has volunteered with the Toronto Chapter, including as Vice President, sat on the Board Advisory Council, the Marketing Task Force, the Grants in Aid Review Committee, the Development Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee. Ruth and her family have participated at Gutsy Walk for twenty years and have made a significant financial contribution through Gutsy Walk along with personal donations. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors. The Finkelstein Award was created by our co-founders, Marilyn and Albert, as a warm hug for an individual whose contributions reflect excellence, either through a particular accomplishment or through sustained efforts over time. We are grateful for her personable and enthusiastic leadership style, and all the ways she has given her time and talents to the cause.
